Principal’s Message
I extend the warmest of welcomes to you. The purpose of this website is to inform you of some aspects of school life here at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Primary School and help you appreciate the flavour of our school.
Since arriving at this school I have come to love it and my spirits are constantly lifted by the warmth of the students, staff and families and our parish priest, Rev Anthony Fregolent who loves to spend time in the school with us. I don’t think I would find this level of warmth anywhere else.
Our teaching and support staff are highly skilled, passionate professionals and are committed to ensuring that every student receives the best possible opportunities. Our teaching and learning culture expects excellence, and this is inherent in all of our learning experiences.
At Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Primary School we are inspired by the message of Jesus and believe that each child is unique, loved by their parents, cared for within their community and most importantly, loved by their God. Within the rich tapestry of a multicultural community, we aim to capitalise on our unique atmosphere and strive to focus on delivering engaging and powerful learning experiences and personalised learning to challenge the needs of each of our children.
As principal, I am committed to working in partnership with everyone within the community for the wellbeing and learning of our children and I welcome visits to the school from any prospective families who may be considering Our Lady of Mt Carmel school for their children’s education.
Appreciatively

Principal
History
In 1953, the Mt Pritchard Catholic school was opened, and was known as St Peter’s Primary School. Due to the increase in population, in 1960, Mt Pritchard became a separate parish. A proper Catholic Church was opened in 1962 next to the school. By 1963, the name of the parish and the school had been changed to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Primary School Mt Pritchard. Since this date, the original church and school have been replaced by modern facilities.
Charism
The staff in 1953, consisted of two sisters from Sisters of Charity and they have continued to have an active involvement in the development of the school. We are proud of our deep connection to the Sisters of Charity and we aspire to share the love, tenderness, and concern of Christ with all whom we meet, seeing Christ in everyone.
Mission
Inspired by our motto ‘strong in faith’ and in partnership with our parents and parish community, our commitment is to:
- educate our students in Catholic beliefs, values, practices and traditions, show them the face of Jesus and nurture their relationship with God
- provide quality education that challenges and supports our students to strive for excellence
- value and respect the dignity and uniqueness of each child
- be a welcoming, inclusive community, living and celebrating our story
Vision
At the centre of our school is the belief that Jesus came to teach us how to live.
In this tradition, we begin by recognising the presence of Christ in each person and by showing care for all members of our school within a safe and secure community. We continue to strive for academic excellence within an environment underpinned by gospel values.
There are many opportunities that exist for involvement in the life of the school, and contributions from families in a range of activities is welcomed and encouraged. Our school Sacramental program is lead in partnership with our parish.
